SUBSTITUTE TEACHING IN MARIN COUNTY

Requirements: To substitute teach in Marin County public schools, you need a Substitute Teacher Identification Verification issued yearly from the Marin County Office of Education Credentials Analyst. To be eligible, you must have either a valid, current California Teaching Credential OR a current Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit (see requirements: http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/cl505p.pdf ). Also needed is proof of freedom from active tuberculosis from your medical provider (valid for four years) AND fingerprint clearance under the umbrella of Marin County Substitute Teachers through the Marin County Office of Education. Information below will help you get started.

July 1, 2011, the annual re-registration begins. All active 10/11
subs should return the mailed form in order to receive their
2011/2012 Substitute Teacher's Identification Verification via
email. Please carry the email printout to present at school sites.

ALERT! While there is never a guarantee of sub work in Marin County, please be aware that the demand for substitute teachers is extremely low compared to past years. Comment updated 10/29/2010 ALERT! As of April 6, 2009, the Marin Countywide Sub Pool is no longer accepting first-time registrants holding Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permits. Comment posted 4/6/2009 ALERT! As of October 1, 2009, CTC will only accept online renewals of Clear Credentials and Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permits.
